Welcome To The Home Page Of South Tipperary Military History Society.
We are dedicated to respecting and preserving the Military Heritage of Ireland, not just as it pertains to Tipperary, but rather as it relates to the whole of Ireland.
To this end we organise regular monthly Lectures from September to May with many of our own Members doing these as well as Guest Lecturers from various Military and Academic Backgrounds. We also organise Day Trips to sites of interest in Ireland and an Annual Trip abroad to visit Battle Sites and Memorials with an Irish aspect to them.
There are no limits put on which areas of Military History we will explore, some people have a preference for the 1st or 2nd World War, some for our own War of Independence and Civil War, and some have a broader interest in Military History in general.
We are not about glorifying war, if anything we would be more about the impact of war on those who fought and died and those who survived, and where possible keeping alive their memory and respecting them by organising tours to the battlefields where they fought, and wreath laying ceremonies at their place of rest.
Please feel free to browse, hopefully you will find something here to interest you and if you wish to join, our contact details are below-we are always looking for new Members and you will be more than welcome.
